Taj Mahal : One Of The Seven Wonders of World On Earth.

Agra Fort : This 16th century monument is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a military fort built by Emperor Akbar on the remains of existing Badalgarh fort. The fort spreads in 94 hectare area. Akbar’s grandson Shah Jahan converted fort into palace and decorated it with marble statues. When you walk through Moti Masjid, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-aam, Diwan-i-khas, Khas Mahal, Jahangiri Mahal and Anguri Bagh you will see the amalgamation of Hindu and Islamic architecture in it. Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Auranzeb and spent last 8 years of his life in a cell of Musamman Burj, from where he used to view Taj Mahal.
Itmad-ud-Daulah : The tomb lies opposite Yamuna River, in front of Taj Mahal. It is also known as Baby Taj. Empress Noor Jahan built this 21-meter high mausoleum in 1622 for her father, Mirza Ghiyas-ud-din who was also the chief minister in Jahangir’s court. Mirza was bestowed with the title Itmad-ud-Daulah. This is the only structure completely made of marble. The elaborately carved octagonal tomb is constructed in Islamic style. Arched entrance and gardens around cover total area of 23 square meters.
Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra : It is located about 13 km from city centre, on the Delhi-Agra Highway. The red-ochre sandstone tomb is set in the middle of lush green garden. Akbar selected the site himself and planned the same in 1600 which was completed by his son Jahangir in 1613 following Akbar’s death in 1605.
